Libby Story Inventory Manager:

REPORTS TO:  Libby Story Headquarters Upper Management Team


JOB PURPOSE: The Inventory Manager is responsible for receiving all products and overseeing the stockroom area.  They handle and/or oversee all aspects of inventory check in procedures for all stores and the website, return authorizations, shipping, and internet order processing.  They must ensure the highest level of accuracy and promptness and possess a desire to learn, grow, and inspire others.  The Inventory Manager must exhibit effective communication, feedback skills, and problem solving abilities.  Ambition, drive, and energy are three aspects necessary for this position.  The Inventory Manager must fully understand and adhere to the Libby Story operational policies and procedures, culture, aesthetic, and customer.


  • Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and recommendations as outlined in the
    Operations Manual and upper management .
  • Accurately receiving and distributing all merchandise.

Including but not limited to:

  • Carefully tagging and packaging all merchandise in a way that reflects Libby Story
  • Collaborating with the Store Merchandising Manager and the Libby Story management team to coordinate and facilitate shipment placement in a timely manner
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and record keeping accuracy.

Including but not limited to:

  • Handling all damaged merchandise credit/return requests in the quickest manner
  • Accurately keeping Purchase Order records
  • Generating and continually updating a 6 month schedule of merchandise coming in based on purchase orders placed at markets, online, via phone or email, or in-store
  • Exhibiting strong loss prevention awareness and compliance
  • Maintaining inventory pictures for upper management reports
  • Accurately keeping invoice records
  • Provide excellent customer service while processing web and store orders to ensure a unique and amazing online shopping experience.

 Including but not limited to:

  • Shipping all orders quickly with correct items and ensure items are not damaged
  • Handling all online returns promptly and correctly
  • Processing all internet orders with great attention to customer service according to
    Libby Story expectations


  • Accurately provide inventory reports and suggestions regarding proper inventory levels and sales forecast

Including but not limited to:

  • Analyzing sales per category per store. Pinpointing weak and strong categories within the Libby Story merchandising mix
  • Providing dollar spend recommendations per category/subcategory weekly
  • Monitoring inventory levels to ensure all stores are adequately supplied based on previous years and sales goals
  • Weekly reporting of inventory aging and needed markdowns to upper management
  • Ensuring stores have accurate information to carry out markdown procedures
  • Assisting in inventory purchasing and buying requests
  • Negotiating prices with vendors to ensure Libby story is getting the best possible price on inventory and freight

KEY RELATIONS:  The Libby Story Inventory Manager will work under the supervision of the Libby Story Headquarters Upper Management team.  There is a need for excellent communication and continued maintenance of relationships with all Libby Story Staff, all customers, and all visitors. 


SCHEDULE: Days will vary and will include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Normal Headquarter hours are:

  • Sundays – 1:00PM to until (Only under special circumstances)
  • Mondays – 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Tuesdays – 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Wednesdays – 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Thursdays – 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Fridays – 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Saturdays – 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (Only under special circumstances)
  • Holiday/Special Events Hours – All normal store hours are subject to change for holidays and special events.
